Spiced Apple & Cinnamon Winter Overnight Oats

Cosy winter flavours grated apple, cinnamon and a hint of nutmeg in a jar you can enjoy cold or gently warmed on chilly Highveld mornings.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup plain yoghurt
  • 1 apple grated
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp honey

Method
 

  1. Stir the oats, chia seeds, cinnamon and nutmeg together in a jar.
  2. Add the milk, yoghurt and honey and mix well.
  3. Fold through most of the grated apple, seal and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Enjoy cold, or warm gently in the microwave for a minute on cold mornings. Top with the reserved apple.

Notes

Microwaving for 60–90 seconds turns this into a warm bowl perfect for winter. A handful of chopped pecans adds crunch.
